Could someone tell me why I am so cautious about love (Pisces sun)?

-I have been very naive in my love life. To the point that the last relationship I was in that lasted 3 years (to the day), and ended very badly. The guy was very manipulative and deceitful. This alone would tell most people that he doesn't love me. However, I stayed with him because I thought he just couldn't be as bad as it appeared. Plus, my being a piscean and him being a scorpio, I thought surely we must be compatible. But because that one and a few others that I was 100% involved in didn't work out, I want to date and become involved again, but I'm so cautious. This last relationship was the worst in my life but I held on because I thought scorps and pisceans were so compatible. My other two serious relationships were with a Leo and an Aries. And although they didn't work out, neither of those were as horrible as this last one. Thanks.
